Artist's Comments

Looking eastward from the windowledge of the west window - showing the harmony between the three-storey 11th-12th century arcades and the late 15th-century lierne-vaulted roof. This was really click-and-hope photography while I battled with an incipient vertigo attack. There was no chance of stepping or leaning back from the edge, or I might have made news by destroying a massive Victorian stained-glass window. And there was no room to put up a tripod, either, which accounts for the slight blur.

That is a gorgeous shot. I've not been in the cathedral for many years, now. I forgot how breathtaking it really is.

Imagination is a curse in all of this.

Thanks. Norwich usually seems to be unfairly forgotten when people consider the great cathedrals of England - for me it's right up there with the best of them, and the roof bosses (eg [link] and [link] ) are a collective treasure nowhere else in the world can match :)

Very nice :D the perspective works great, the colour in the ceiling and floor contrast so well against the stone walls.

Cheers :)

It's really hard to take photos in the cathedral i've found, so i think this is pretty amazing. I love the cathedral, particularly outside with all the archways.
Very nice shot, i like the lighting and contrast. =)

Dude...

Thanks, Daisy - I'm glad you like it. This is a view few visitors get, and I'm not sure how the health and safety people would have liked a visiting journalist being taken up on that ledge either! It was probably safer than it felt... ;)
(Sorry it's taken me a month to reply to your kind comment - I don't often visit dA in this guise :))

:iconsmallgraybox:
Wow not that's impressive, but where was you to get that angle and height?
:iconwodewose2:
Thanks, Colin. I took this from up on a very narrow, unprotected stone ledge that runs between the relatively secure walkways behind the arches you see on either side of the cathedral nave - effectively the windowledge of the west window.
